What is

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatment also known to us at Symetry Aesthetics as the "Liquid Gold" Treatment.

PRP, or Platelet Rich Plasma, utilises your own growth factors within your blood to stimulate your body’s natural healing response to achieve incredible, versatile benefits.

PRP can reduce the common signs of ageing and many of our clients who take up our PRP treatment end up with a naturally-youthful and rejuvenated appearance.

What is Platelet-rich plasma (PRP)?

How does it work?

PRP is a procedure that involves taking a sample of your blood and centrifuging (separating) the platelets and plasma from the red cells.

The platelets and plasma is then re-injected into the skin.

Using your body’s own blood platelets, PRP is re-injected or Micro-needled back into your skin to help men and women with:

·         Acne and acne scarring

·         Wrinkles and fine lines (frown lines or crow’s feet)

·         Loose skin

·         Dark eyes

·         Hair loss

·         Hand rejuvenation

·         Stretch marks

PRP is used to promote new skin cells, stimulate collagen production, repair cell damage, and regenerate and remodel tissue growth.

This means improving your skin texture, tone as well as, helping improve your complexion

PRP Frequently asked questions

How many treatments are required?

For optimal results, it is recommend that 2-3 treatments are done 4-6 weeks apart, with a once a year active maintenance treatment. Some clients like to optimise, collagen and elastin, by having maintenance treatment every 3 months.

How long do the results last for?

There is on-going improvement in the skin up to 12 months after each treatment depending on the rate the patient grows collagen. A maintenance treatment can be done at the 6 months mark to optimise collagen and elastin.

Are results immediate?

No. Swelling from the plasma is what you will see and feel first. Once this has subsided you will not see much change at all. Over a few weeks the Platelets will stimulate the growth factors which will assist in more collagen growth. You will start to see an improvement in skin turgor and elasticity. Some say when applying makeup, it glides on and skin texture and tone is smoother.

When will I see results?

Results are not instant. Skin texture and new tissue cell growth is visible after 2-3 weeks and may take up to 6 weeks and continue to improve for up to 6 months.

What are the side effects of the treatment?

Expect as a minimum, swelling, bruising and redness for 12- 24 hours. Some clients experience headaches, and bruising may be present for up to a week or more. Some patients may feel faint. A bruise at the venapuncture site may be visible for 2-7 days.

Does it work on scarring?

Severe scarring may not respond to treatment as well as, advanced wrinkles.

What is the preparation before treatment?

Leading up to your appointment a healthy diet and refraining or minimising smoking will optimise treatment. On the day it is important to come in well hydrated
